Frustrated with having to constantly reset his targets when target shooting, Eldon took the Bright Sparks approach and after matching-up a bit of technology with a fantastic idea Robot Revenge was born!

I enjoy shooting my Airsoft pistol at targets, but I get frustrated when I have to reset a target after each successful shot, and I also have to keep track of the hits myself. You can get electronic BB targets in other countries, but they’re expensive to order and don’t have all the features that I thought would be cool.

I thought it would be great to have my own target that records my hits, and I could hear from 20 metres away. A small digital display would be too hard to see from that distance, so I thought about adding speakers to register my hits, but then someone suggested headphones. After a bit of research, I decided that a wireless headphone was the best option. But I still wanted to include speakers for spectators.

The best part about developing Robot Revenge is that it gave me a good excuse to tear apart lots of toys and gadgets!

I’ve been a Bright Sparks member since 2007. I like all the help and support I get with my electronics projects from the Bright Sparks team and I enjoy entering the competition. I love electronics, animation, Airsoft BB guns, sports, animals, and playing guitar. In the future I plan on studying electrical engineering at Auckland University.

This is very well thought-out and neatly executed. If I were stranded on a desert island, I would want Eldon to be around to help everyone survive with more inventions!

Working in the creation of theme parks worldwide, I can unequivocally say that you exhibit the unique creative ingenuity needed for taking common everyday components and incorporating them into the illusion of magic. Welcome to the world of looking at a device, not for what it's intended to do, but for what you could possibly expand it into. I think we've found the next generation of Disney Imagineer!
