Fed up with having to buy new houseplants all the time, Jacob was inspired to invent the Plants Mind so his houseplants would never go thirsty again!

I had lots of fun working on the project with and it was really cool to see Plants Mind come together how I'd planned, especially because getting the timing just right [so the water didn't tip all over the ground] was quite frustrating at times.
I'm not sure what I want to do when I leave school yet but my dream job is to either become a computer animator for games - or a cake decorator... I know it sounds weird but I think I could use my artistic talents and my design skills to make some awesome cakes!
In my spare time I like whitebaiting, playing RuneScape on the computer, shooting with my slug gun and playing soccer. I also like following designs such as Origami and Lego, and I love cooking!
I get inspiration from lots of places and people have encouraged me to design and create my projects. Being given the opportunity to enter the Bright Sparks Competition at school is awesome!
In my opinion the invention that has changed the way we live our lives are cellphones - you can never escape! Someone will always track you down. In fact, I think we're too easy get hold of, people need to learn to relax more!
