When it comes to ensuring high quality milk production, maintaining hot water temperature during the cow shed's wash cycle is essential - and, now with Shan's technologically savvy Shed Speciality, it just got a whole lot easier!

Growing up on a farm, I wanted to create something that was useful, that's why I went about creating a system that can alert the milker to failing hot water heaters before it becomes a problem. My system measures and monitors hot water heater and dump tank temperatures which are transmitted to a radio receiver and displayed on an LED screen. LEDs are also used to ensure the readings can be seen from a distance. During this project I learnt a lot about electronics and soldering which was great. Assembling the circuit boards and testing them could be quite challenging at times, but it was really rewarding once it all worked!
In my spare time I like riding my motor bike around the farm, playing guitar and sport. I'm still at primary school so I haven't made up my mind about further education yet but one day I hope to be a chef.
I'm inspired by my mum and dad because they're really hard working and have a knack for electronics. In my opinion, the invention [more than any other] that has changed the way we live our lives is the flush toilet!
