Matthew Richardson

Matthew Richardson is a former Bright Sparks Awards winner in his final year of a Bachelor of Engineering at MIT [with a full-fees scholarship]. His serious interest in electronics was sparked after joining Bright Sparks in 2003 –  and ever since he’s been a mentor to other Bright Sparks and is an active member on the ‘Hub’.

Matthew has entered the Bright Sparks Competition twice. His EasyMow lawnmower was awarded Best Modification of a Published Circuit – Senior [1st Place] in 2004. Then, in 2005 he developed a navigation system that could be used as the basis for monitoring not only a robotic lawnmower, but also many other similar systems and devices. This project, the NavBot Robot, was awarded the Senior Supreme Award, Best Original Circuit – Senior [2nd Place] and Best Original Computer Programme – Senior [Highly Commended].

Matthew's got some great advice for fellow technology enthusiasts. To find out more, watch his vodcast.
